WHAT IS MEDIATION?

Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution.  Mediations are
conducted by experienced, impartial third parties.  The aim of mediation is for
the parties involved to determine the conditions of a settlement instead of
having a third party impose the terms upon them.  Mediations are conducted
in a relaxed atmosphere.  Mediations are confidential and offer the parties a
lot of flexibility.

WHO SHOULD USE MEDIATION?

Mediation can be used in a variety of cases.  Mediation is often used in
divorce cases, business litigation, employment cases, child support
modifications, custody modifications, relocation, etc...

WHY SHOULD I USE MEDIATION?

Mediation is a cost effective way to resolve your case.  Mediation allows you
to be more involved in tailoring a settlement which meets your needs.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MEDIATION?

1.  Mediation allows you to play a vital role in the settlement.

2.  The terms of the settlement can be more specifically tailored to the needs
of the parties and the circumstances of the case.

3. Mediation is very cost effective.  It is a lot less expensive than a trial.  A
normal child custody
trial will cost each of the parties $10,000.00 -
$25,000.00 or more.  Mediation costs approximately $1,200.00 for a full
day of mediation and the mediation fee is generally split between the parties.

4.  Mediation is faster than moving a case through standard legal channels.

WHAT DOES MEDIATION COST?

Fees vary depending on the mediator.  John Alberts generally charges
$300.00 per party for 1/2 day and $600.00 per party for a full day.
